Abstract The goal of this article is to show the timeliness of Hegel's critic of irrationalism. The interpretative hypothesis to be demonstrated is that the modern concept of irrational, whose origin is found in mathematical language, is causally related to the problem of infinity. To better develop this issue, I intend to show Hegel's dialogue with Schelling, whose diagnosis of the problem of opposition between finite and infinite in philosophical systems until his time greatly influenced the very conception of philosophy and reason of the young Hegel.

Resumo O objetivo último deste artigo é demostrar a atualidade da crítica de Hegel ao irracionalismo. A hipótese interpretativa a ser demonstrada é que o conceito moderno de irracional, cuja origem se encontra na linguagem matemática, está diretamente relacionado com o problema do infinito. Para melhor desenvolver essa questão, pretendo mostrar o diálogo de Hegel com Schelling, cujo diagnóstico sobre o problema da oposição entre finito e infinito nos sistemas filosóficos até sua época muito influenciou a própria concepção de filosofia e de razão do jovem Hegel.

Abstract Isotonic repositories are specially designed to promote rehydration during or after physical exercise. These beverages are processed for commercialization from synthetic flavorings and dyes with sensorial characteristics similar to those of fruits, in order to attenuate their natural acidity. The aim of the present study was to develop two formulations of isotonic drinks without synthetic dyes and with functional attributes based on concentrated hydroethanolic extracts of peel and pulp of Myrciaria jaboticaba. Determination of chemical (sodium, potassium and calcium, total phenolics, total anthocyanins, total flavonoids, total condensed tannins), physical (objective color analysis), and physical-chemical characteristics (pH, acidity, total soluble solids), as well as sensory evaluation through preference testing was carried out. In addition, the drinks presented dark red coloration, according to the chromaticity diagram. The sensory evaluation results revealed that the beverage formulated with 12% pulp extract stood out as the preferred beverage among the judges.

Nos últimos dez anos o número de pessoas que seguem um padrão alimentar vegetariano quadruplicou. Hoje conhecem-se benefícios do padrão alimentar vegetariano e o seu papel protetor em várias doenças prevalentes na população, entre as quais diabetes mellitus tipo 2, hipertensão arterial e doenças cardiovasculares. Atletas que seguem um padrão alimentar vegetariano podem atender às suas necessidades proteicas através de fontes vegetais, quando uma grande variedade desse tipo de alimentos é incluída diariamente na alimentação e a ingestão de energia é adequada. Os nutrientes a ter em atenção para evitar deficiências nutricionais em atletas vegetarianos incluem as proteínas, ácidos gordos n-3, ferro, cálcio, iodo e vitamina B12. Com o aumento do número de atletas que seguem o padrão alimentar vegetariano, é pertinente questionar acerca do seu efeito na performance desportiva. Este trabalho reúne a evidência científica existente sobre a abordagem nutricional em atletas vegetarianos, identificando trabalhos publicados desde 1997 até 2019. Com este trabalho pretende-se examinar e debater possíveis impactos do padrão alimentar vegetariano na performance desportiva. A evidência científica atual demonstra que a adoção deste padrão alimentar não afeta positivamente nem negativamente a performance dos atletas. Desta forma, será necessário realizar mais estudos para examinar os efeitos do padrão alimentar vegetariano em atletas para garantir a otimização da saúde e a performance.

There has been a growing adoption of the vegetarian dietary pattern, four times higher than ten years ago. Nowadays, the benefits of vegetable food consumption and its role in the prevention of several highly prevalent diseases in the population are known, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. When a large amount of food is included daily in the diet and the energy intake is adequate, vegetarian athletes can meet their protein needs through vegetable sources. Nutrients to consider avoiding nutritional deficiencies in vegetarians include proteins, n-3 fatty acids, iron, zinc, calcium, iodine, vitamin D and vitamin B12. With the increase of the number of athletes who follow the vegetarian diet, it is pertinent to question its effect on sports performance. This work brings together an existent proof of a nutritional approach in vegetarian athletes, identifying scientific studies from 1997 to 2019. The purpose of this paper is to examine and discuss the possible impacts of the vegetarian dietary pattern on sports performance. Current scientific evidence demonstrates that the adoption of this dietary pattern does not positively or negatively affect athletes' performance. Thus, it will be necessary to conduct further studies to examine the effects of the vegetarian dietary pattern on athletes to ensure the optimization of health and performance.

Abstract The creation of an «Official Gazette» in Brazil, dedicated to the dissemination and, therefore, the legitimation of governmental acts, dates from 1862, when a journal with these characteristics began to circulate uninterruptedly until the present time, currently in digital format. Prior to the appearance of this official vehicle, the publication of governmental acts was done through various newspapers, some of them with ties to the instituted powers, others of a totally private nature, considering, as its origin, the year 1808, when Brazil became the headquarters of the Portuguese monarchy and was created the official press, which led to the publication of the Gazeta do Rio de Janeiro, following the Lisbon Gazette. This article aims to analyse this historical process, which went through different conjunctures, but with a strong dose of political, social and cultural permanencies. From this perspective, it seeks to relate conjunctures and meanings, analysing not only the issue of information, but also factors related to readability and to the transparency of the political-administrative process. An important historical source, the Diário da União (current name of the publication) is still a virgin ground for research and there is no doubt that its study, considering the said and the unsaid, will decisively contribute to the rewriting of the history of Brazil.

Resumo A criação de um «Diário Oficial» no Brasil, dedicado à divulgação e, portanto, à legitimação dos atos governamentais, é obra dos idos de 1862, quando um periódico, com essas características, passou a circular, de forma ininterrupta, até o tempo presente, mais atualmente, em seu formato digital. Antes do aparecimento desse veículo oficial, a publicização dos atos governamentais era feita através de jornais diversos, alguns deles com vínculos com os poderes instituídos, outros de caráter totalmente privado, considerando-se, como origem, o ano de 1808, quando o Brasil se tornou sede da monarquia portuguesa e foi criada a Imprensa Oficial, que ensejou a publicação da Gazeta do Rio de Janeiro, aos moldes da Gazeta de Lisboa. Esse artigo propõe-se a analisar esse processo histórico, que atravessou conjunturas diferenciadas, mas com forte dose de permanências políticas, sociais e culturais. Nessa perspectiva, busca relacionar conjunturas e sentidos, analisando não só a questão da informação, mas também fatores relativos à inteligibilidade por parte do leitor e à transparência do processo político-administrativo. Importante fonte histórica, o Diário da União (nome atual do veículo informativo) é ainda terreno virgem de pesquisa e não restam dúvidas que sua contemplação, considerando-se o dito e o não-dito, colaborará, decisivamente, para a reescrita da história do país.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effects of variables on the process of lipases production by Aspergillus niger C by submerged fermentation (SmF). The production assays were performed in shake flasks for 72 hours at 150 rpm and 32°C. First, a fractional factorial design 25-1 (FFD) was carried out to evaluate the effect of the following process variables: sucrose, ammonium sulphate, soybean oil, yeast extract concentration and pH. After the selection of the variables that significantly influenced the lipase production, a central composite rotational design 22 (CCRD) was used, aiming to find the most favorable operational conditions. The selected assay condition (15.0 g.L-1 sucrose, 4.0 g.L-1 ammonium sulphate, 4.0 g.L-1 soybean oil and 1.0 g.L-1 yeast extract at pH 5.0) was the one that presented a lipase activity of 27.46 U.mL-1. It was very close to that best assay (30.76 U.mL-1), but using half of the inducer concentration, consequently reducing process cost. The kinetics of lipase production showed that the highest specific activity was 57.17 U.mg-1. The pH and temperature effects on lipase activity produced in this study was investigated. The optimum activity was found in a more acidic pH (5.0-6.0) and 55°C.

This work aims evaluate the use of biocides in the microbiologically-influenced corrosion (MIC) of AISI 1020 carbon steel by sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in artificial seawater. A natural biocide (garlic oil) and a commercial biocide (glutaraldehyde) were used to control the corrosion caused by these bacteria in artificial seawater. Microbial growth on the steel surface was evaluated by quantifying the sessile SRB using the most probable number (MPN) method. The action of biocides in the biocorrosion process was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization. The biofilm formation and the corrosion products on the steel surface were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that, although it was not able to inhibit the growth of sessile SRB completely, garlic oil showed a greater reduction in the corrosion process when compared to glutaraldehyde, indicating its possible application as a natural biocide under these conditions.

RESUMO Avaliar o músculo diafragma é importante para verificar suas possíveis alterações ou disfunções. Existem várias formas de avaliar a mobilidade diafragmática, mas poucos estudos que comparam a mobilidade do hemidiafragma direito com o esquerdo. O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar se existem diferenças entre a mobilidade diafragmática das hemicúpulas direita e esquerda em indivíduos saudáveis e em indivíduos com Doença Pulmonar Obstrutiva Crônica (DOCP), bem como comparar a mobilidade diafragmática entre homens e mulheres, e entre pacientes saudáveis e com DPOC. Foram avaliados 40 indivíduos saudáveis e 40 indivíduos com diagnóstico clínico de DPOC. Utilizaram-se os parâmetros antropométricos, cardiopulmonares e avaliação da mobilidade diafragmática pelo método radiográfico. Os dados foram analisados estatisticamente e tratados com análise descritiva (média e desvio-padrão) e análise inferencial. Para comparar a mobilidade das hemicúpulas diafragmáticas direita e esquerda, utilizou-se o teste t pareado. O nível de significância adotado para o tratamento estatístico foi de 5% (p<0,05). Não houve diferença da mobilidade diafragmática tanto do lado direito quanto do lado esquerdo nos indivíduos saudáveis (p=0,45) e nos indivíduos com DPOC (p=0,77), assim como não houve diferenças quando os grupos foram separados por sexo. Foi encontrada uma diferença importante comparando tanto a mobilidade diafragmática do lado direito quanto do lado esquerdo entre indivíduos saudáveis e DPOC (p<0,001). Concluiu-se que a mobilidade diafragmática das hemicúpulas direita e esquerda em indivíduos saudáveis e em indivíduos com DPOC é a mesma. Não há diferença da mobilidade entre homens e mulheres. A mobilidade diafragmática é reduzida em paciente com DPOC.

ABSTRACT To evaluate the diaphragm muscle is important for verifying its possible changes or malfunctions. There are several ways to evaluate the diaphragmatic mobility, but only a few compare the mobility of the right hemidiaphragm with the left one. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether there are differences between the mobility of right and left hemidiaphragms in healthy individuals and individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as to evaluate the diaphragmatic mobility between men and women, and between healthy and COPD patients. We evaluated 40 healthy individuals and 40 individuals with clinical diagnosis of COPD. Anthropometric and cardiopulmonary parameters were used. The diaphragmatic mobility was evaluated by radiography. Data were statistically analyzed and processed with descriptive analysis (mean and standard deviation) and inferential analysis. To compare the mobilities of the right and left hemidiaphragms, the paired t-test was used. The significance level adopted for statistical treatment was 5% (p<0.05). There was no difference of the diaphragmatic mobility for both left and right sides in healthy individuals (p=0.45) and individuals with COPD (p=0.77). Also, no differences were found when groups were separated according to sex. An important difference was found comparing both diaphragmatic mobilities of the right and left sides between healthy and COPD individuals (p<0.001). We concluded that mobility of left and right hemidiaphragms in healthy and COPD individuals is the same. There is no difference for mobility between men and women. Diaphragmatic mobility is reduced in COPD patients.

RESUMEN Evaluar el músculo diafragma es importante para certificar sus posibles alteraciones o disfunciones. Hay varias maneras de evaluar la movilidad diafragmática, sin embargo, pocos estudios que comparan la movilidad del hemidiafragma derecho con el izquierdo. El objetivo de este estudio es evaluar si hay diferencias entre la movilidad diafragmática de las hemicúpulas derecha e izquierda en individuos saludables y en individuos con Enfermedad Pulmonar Obstructiva Crónica (EPOC), así como comparar la movilidad diafragmática entre hombres y mujeres, y entre pacientes saludables y con EPOC. Fueron evaluados 40 individuos saludables y 40 individuos con diagnóstico clínico de EPOC. Se utilizaron los parámetros antropométricos, los cardiopulmonares y la evaluación de la movilidad diafragmática por el método radiográfico. Los datos fueron analizados estadísticamente y tratados con el análisis descriptivo (promedio y desviación estándar) y el análisis inferencial. Para comparar la movilidad de las hemicúpulas diafragmáticas derecha e izquierda, se utilizó la prueba t pareada. El nivel de significancia adoptado para el tratamiento estadístico fue del 5% (p<0,05). No hubo diferencia de la movilidad diafragmática tanto del lado derecho cuanto del lado izquierdo en los individuos saludables (p=0,45) y en los individuos con EPOC (p=0,77), así como no hubo diferencias cuando los grupos fueron separados por sexo. Fue encontrada una diferencia importante comparando tanto la movilidad diafragmática del lado derecho cuanto del lado izquierdo entre individuos saludables y EPOC (p<0,001). Se concluyó que la movilidad diafragmática de las hemicúpulas derecha e izquierda en individuos saludables y en individuos con EPOC es la misma. No hay diferencia de la movilidad entre hombres y mujeres. La movilidad diafragmática es reducida en paciente con EPOC.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a validade concorrente, assim como a confiabilidade intra e interobservador, da avaliação da mobilidade diafragmática pelo método da área radiográfica (MDárea) em adultos saudáveis. Métodos: Foram avaliados os parâmetros antropométricos, a função pulmonar e a mobilidade diafragmática de 43 participantes. A mobilidade diafragmática foi determinada por dois observadores (A e B) em dois momentos distintos. O coeficiente de correlação de Pearson foi utilizado para avaliar a correlação entre o método da MDárea e o método por distância (MDdist). Para avaliar a confiabilidade intra e interobservador, foi utilizado o coeficiente de correlação intraclasse (CCI [2,1]), IC95% e a disposição gráfica de Bland & Altman. Resultados: Houve uma correlação significativa entre MDárea e MDdist (r = 0,743; p < 0,0001). Para MDárea, a confiabilidade intraobservador foi alta para a avaliação radiográfica do hemidiafragma direito (HDD) - CCI (2,1) = 0,92 (IC95%: 0,86-0,95) para o observador A e CCI (2,1) = 0,90 (IC95%: 0,84-0,94) para o observador B - e do hemidiafragma esquerdo (HDE) - CCI (2,1) = 0,96 (IC95%: 0,93-0,97) para o observador A e CCI (2,1) = 0,91 (IC95%: 0,81-0,95 para o observador B (p < 0,0001 para todos). Também para MDárea, a confiabilidade interobservador foi alta para a primeira e segunda avaliações do HDD - CCI (2,1) = 0,99 (IC95%: 0,98-0,99) e CCI (2,1) = 0,95 (IC95%: 0,86-0,97), respectivamente - e HDE - CCI (2,1) = 0,94 (IC95%: 0,87-0,97) e CCI (2,1) = 0,94 (IC95%: 0,87-0,97), respectivamente - (p < 0,0001 para ambos). A disposição gráfica de Bland & Altman mostrou uma boa concordância entre as medidas de mobilidade de HDD e HDE. Conclusões: O método de MDárea demonstrou ser válido e reprodutível para medir a mobilidade diafragmática.

ABSTRACT Objective: To investigate the concurrent validity, as well as the intra- and inter-rater reliability, of assessing diaphragmatic mobility by area (DMarea) on chest X-rays of healthy adults. Methods: We evaluated anthropometric parameters, pulmonary function, and diaphragmatic mobility in 43 participants. Two observers (rater A and rater B) determined diaphragmatic mobility at two time points. We used Pearson’s correlation coefficient to evaluate the correlation between DMarea and the assessment of diaphragmatic mobility by distance (DMdist). To evaluate intra- and inter-rater reliability, we used the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC [2,1]), 95% CI, and Bland-Altman analysis. Results: A significant correlation was found between the DMarea and DMdist methods (r = 0.743; p < 0.0001). For DMarea, the intra-rater reliability was found to be quite high for the right hemidiaphragm (RHD)-ICC (2,1) = 0.92 (95% CI: 0.86-0.95) for rater A and ICC (2,1) = 0.90 (95% CI: 0.84-0.94) for rater B-and the left hemidiaphragm (LHD)-ICC (2,1) = 0.96 (95% CI: 0.93-0.97) for rater A and ICC (2,1) = 0.91 (95% CI: 0.81-0.95) for rater B-(p < 0.0001 for all). Also for DMarea, the inter-rater reliability was found to be quite high for the first and second evaluations of the RHD-ICC (2,1) = 0.99 (95% CI: 0.98-0.99) and ICC (2,1) = 0.95 (95% CI: 0.86-0.97), respectively-and the LHD-ICC (2,1) = 0.99 (95% CI: 0.98-0.99) and ICC (2,1) = 0.94 (95% CI: 0.87-0.97)-(p < 0.0001 for both). The Bland-Altman analysis showed good agreement between the mobility of the RHD and that of the LHD. Conclusions: The DMarea method proved to be a valid, reliable measure of diaphragmatic mobility.

RESUMO Objetivo: Comparar a mobilidade diafragmática, a função pulmonar e a força muscular respiratória em pacientes que apresentam DPOC com e sem hipercifose torácica; verificar a relação do ângulo da curvatura torácica com a mobilidade diafragmática, variáveis da função pulmonar e de força muscular respiratória dos pacientes com DPOC; e comparar a mobilidade diafragmática e a cifose torácica entre os gêneros nesses pacientes. Métodos: Foram realizadas as seguintes avaliações: antropometria, espirometria, mensuração do ângulo da curvatura torácica e mobilidade diafragmática. Resultados: Participaram do estudo 34 pacientes com DPOC. No grupo de pacientes com DPOC e hipercifose torácica, a mobilidade diafragmática foi estatisticamente menor quando comparada à do grupo DPOC sem hipercifose torácica (p = 0,002). Não houve diferenças estatisticamente significantes entre esses grupos em relação a variáveis de função pulmonar e de força muscular respiratória. Houve uma correlação negativa significante entre o ângulo da curvatura torácica e a mobilidade diafragmática (r = −0,47; p = 0,005). Quando comparados homens e mulheres da amostra geral, houve diferenças estatisticamente significantes em relação à massa corpórea (p = 0,011), estatura (p < 0,001) e ângulo da curvatura da cifose torácica (p = 0,036), mas não em relação à mobilidade diafragmática (p = 0,210). Conclusões: Os pacientes com DPOC e hipercifose torácica apresentaram menor mobilidade diafragmática quando comparados com os pacientes com DPOC sem hipercifose torácica. O ângulo da curvatura torácica se correlacionou negativamente com a mobilidade diafragmática. O grupo feminino apresentou um aumento significante no ângulo da curvatura torácica quando comparado ao grupo masculino.

ABSTRACT Objective: To compare diaphragmatic mobility, lung function, and respiratory muscle strength between COPD patients with and without thoracic hyperkyphosis; to determine the relationship of thoracic kyphosis angle with diaphragmatic mobility, lung function, and respiratory muscle strength in COPD patients; and to compare diaphragmatic mobility and thoracic kyphosis between male and female patients with COPD. Methods: Participants underwent anthropometry, spirometry, thoracic kyphosis measurement, and evaluation of diaphragmatic mobility. Results: A total of 34 patients with COPD participated in the study. Diaphragmatic mobility was significantly lower in the group of COPD patients with thoracic hyperkyphosis than in that of those without it (p = 0.002). There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups of COPD patients regarding lung function or respiratory muscle strength variables. There was a significant negative correlation between thoracic kyphosis angle and diaphragmatic mobility (r = −0.47; p = 0.005). In the sample as a whole, there were statistically significant differences between males and females regarding body weight (p = 0.011), height (p < 0.001), and thoracic kyphosis angle (p = 0.036); however, there were no significant differences in diaphragmatic mobility between males and females (p = 0.210). Conclusions: Diaphragmatic mobility is lower in COPD patients with thoracic hyperkyphosis than in those without it. There is a negative correlation between thoracic kyphosis angle and diaphragmatic mobility. In comparison with male patients with COPD, female patients with COPD have a significantly increased thoracic kyphosis angle.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to produce bioethanol from enzymatic hydrolysates of cassava pulp, a by-product of cassava flour manufacturing, using an alcohol-tolerant Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain. First, the best operational condition of the starch hydrolysis process was determined through a complete factorial design (24), with triplicates at the central point. The independent variables evaluated were: the concentrations of α-amylase (Termamyl 2X) and glucoamylase (AMG 300L) and both liquefaction and saccharification times. The most favorable hydrolysis condition in the assay was achieved using 0.517 mL AMG.g starch-1 and 0.270 mL Termamyl.g starch-1, with liquefaction and saccharification times of 1 and 2 h, respectively. The broth obtained at this hydrolysis condition contained a high glucose concentration (160 g.L-1). Once the best reaction conditions were determined, fermentation tests were carried out in a 3 L bioreactor, in a batch system, at 30 °C, 100 rpm and pH 5.5, using 3 g.L-1 (dry biomass) of yeast as inoculum. After 24 h of fermentation, an ethanol concentration of 68 g.L-1 was obtained, with 0.48 ethanol yield and 2.83 g.L-1.h-1 productivity. These results indicate the potential use of cassava pulp, a by-product of cassava flour industries in Brazil, as a raw material for bioethanol production.

RESUMO Na doença pulmonar obstrutiva crônica (DPOC), os pacientes podem apresentar redução da mobilidade diafragmática e uma série de compensações na coluna torácica, nas cinturas escapular e pélvica. No entanto, não está clara a relação da mobilidade diafragmática com alterações posturais na coluna vertebral e na pelve desses indivíduos. Objetivou-se verificar se existe relação entre a mobilidade diafragmática com as curvaturas da coluna vertebral de pacientes com DPOC e em indivíduos aparentemente saudáveis. Foram avaliados 22 pacientes com DPOC e 22 indivíduos aparentemente saudáveis. As avaliações foram: antropometria, espirometria, mobilidade diafragmática e avaliação postural. Foram analisadas quatro alterações posturais: lordose cervical, cifose torácica, lordose lombar, posição pélvica. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os grupos, em relação às variáveis idade, massa corporal, estatura e IMC, confirmando que os grupos foram pareados. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significante em nenhuma das variáveis referentes às curvaturas da coluna vertebral e à posição da pelve entre os grupos estudados. No grupo DPOC houve correlação da mobilidade diafragmática com a cifose torácica (r=-0,543; p=0,009). Já em relação ao grupo de indivíduos aparentemente saudáveis, não houve correlação da mobilidade quanto os indivíduos aparentemente saudáveis apresentaram os mesmos ângulos de curvatura da coluna vertebral e a mesma posição da pelve. Contudo, os pacientes com DPOC apresentaram relação entre a mobilidade diafragmática e o ângulo da curvatura torácica.

ABSTRACT In the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), patients may have reduced diaphragmatic mobility and a series of compensations in the thoracic spine, the scapular and pelvic girdles. However, the relation between diaphragmatic mobility and postural changes in these individuals’ vertebral column and pelvis is not clear. The aim of this study was to verify if there is a relation between diaphragmatic mobility and spinal curvatures in patients with COPD and in apparently healthy individuals. Were evaluated 22 patients with COPD and 22 apparently healthy individuals. The evaluations consisted of: anthropometry, spirometry, diaphragmatic mobility and postural evaluation. Four postural alterations were analyzed: cervical lordosis, thoracic kyphosis, lumbar lordosis, pelvic position. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups, in relation to the variables age, body mass, stature and BMI, confirming that the groups were paired. There was no statistically significant difference in any of the variables related to spinal curvatures and pelvic position between the studied groups. In the COPD group, there was a correlation between diaphragmatic mobility and thoracic kyphosis (r=-0.543; p=0.009). Regarding the group of apparently healthy individuals, there was no correlation of mobility as the apparently healthy individuals presented the same angles of curvature of the vertebral column and the same position of the pelvis. However, there was a relation between diaphragmatic mobility and the angle of the thoracic curvature in patients with COPD.

RESUMEN En la enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica (EPOC), los pacientes pueden presentar reducción de la movilidad diafragmática y muchas compensaciones en la columna torácica, en las cinturas escapular y pélvica. No obstante, no está clara la relación de la movilidad diafragmática con las alteraciones posturales en la columna vertebral y en la pelvis de esos individuos. Se tuvo el objetivo de ver si hay relación entre la movilidad diafragmática con las curvaturas de la columna vertebral de los pacientes con la EPOC y en los individuos aparentemente saludables. Fueron evaluados 22 pacientes con la EPOC y 22 individuos aparentemente saludables. Las evaluaciones fueron: la antropometría, la espirometría, la movilidad diafragmática y la evaluación postural. Fueron analizadas cuatro alteraciones posturales: la lordosis cervical, la cifosis torácica, la lordosis lumbar, la posición pélvica. No hubo diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre los grupos, en relación a las variables edad, la masa corporal, la estatura y el IMC, confirmando que los grupos fueron pareados. No hubo diferencia estadísticamente significante en ninguna de las variables referentes a las curvaturas de la columna vertebral y a la posición de la pelvis entre los grupos estudiados. En el grupo EPOC hubo correlación de la movilidad diafragmática con la cifosis torácica (r = -0,543; p = 0,009). Ya en relación al grupo de los individuos aparentemente saludables, no hubo correlación de la movilidad cuanto a los individuos aparentemente saludables que presentaron los mismos ángulos de curvatura de la columna vertebral y la misma posición de la pelvis. No obstante, los pacientes con la EPOC presentaron relación entre la movilidad diafragmática y el ángulo de la curvatura torácica.

Resumo Introdução: Na doença pulmonar obstrutiva crônica (DPOC), a resistência ao fluxo aéreo prejudica a mecânica respiratória que pode comprometer o alinhamento postural. Existe uma escassez de estudos que tenham investigado os comprometimentos posturais e suas possíveis relações com a função pulmonar. Objetivos: Comparar o alinhamento postural entre pacientes com DPOC e indivíduos aparentemente saudáveis; correlacionar a função pulmonar com o alinhamento postural no grupo DPOC. Métodos: 20 pacientes com DPOC e 20 indivíduos aparentemente saudáveis realizaram: antropometria, espirometria e avaliação postural. Foram analisadas as alterações posturais: inclinação lateral da cabeça (ILC), desnivelamento dos ombros (DO), desnivelamento pélvico anterior (DPA), inclinação lateral do tronco (ILT), desnivelamento das escápulas (DE), desnivelamento pélvico posterior (DPP), protrusão da cabeça (PC), protrusão de ombro (PO), báscula anterior da pelve (BAP) e cifose torácica (CT). Resultados: Houve diferença estatisticamente significante entre os pacientes com DPOC e os indivíduos aparentemente saudáveis nas variáveis: DPP (0,021), BAP (p=0,014) e CT (p=0,011). Houve correlação entre as variáveis pulmonares e o alinhamento postural no grupo DPOC: volume forçado no primeiro segundo (VEF1 %prev) e PC (°) (r= 0,488, p=0,029), VEF1 (%prev) e BAP (°) (r= -0,472; p= 0,036); Capacidade Vital Forçada (CVF %prev) e PC (°) (r= 0,568; p= 0,009); CVF %prev) e BAP (°) (r= -0,461; p=0,041). Conclusão: O alinhamento postural da báscula anterior da pelve direita e esquerda e da cifose torácica é diferente quando comparados pacientes com DPOC e saudáveis. Existe relação entre a função pulmonar e o alinhamento postural no paciente com DPOC.

Abstract Introduction: In chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), airflow resistance impairs respiratory mechanics that may compromise postural alignment. There is a lack of studies that have investigated compromised postures and their possible associations with pulmonary function. Objectives: To compare the postural alignment of COPD patients with apparently healthy individuals; To correlate pulmonary function with postural alignment in the COPD group. Methods: 20 COPD patients and 20 apparently healthy individuals performed: anthropometry, spirometry and postural evaluation. The following postural changes were assessed: lateral head tilt (LHT), shoulder asymmetry (SA1), anterior pelvic asymmetry (APA), lateral trunk tilt (LTT), scapular asymmetry (SA2), posterior pelvic asymmetry (PPA), head protrusion (HP), shoulder protrusion (SP), anterior pelvic tilt (APT) and thoracic kyphosis (TK). Results: There was a statistically significant difference between COPD patients and apparently healthy individuals in the following variables: PPT (p= 0.021), APT (p=0.014) and TK (p=0.011). There was a correlation between pulmonary variables and postural alignment in the COPD group: Forced Volume in one second (FEV1% pred) and HP (°) (r=0.488, p=0.029), FEV1 (% pred) and APT (°) (r= -0.472, p= 0.036); Forced Vital Capacity (FVC % pred) and HP (°) (r=0.568, p=0.009); FVC (% pred) and APT (°) (r=-0.461, p=0.041). Conclusion: Postural alignment of the anterior tilt of the right and left pelvis and thoracic kyphosis is different when compared with COPD patients and healthy individuals. There is a relationship between pulmonary function and postural alignment in COPD patients.

The photochemistry and photophysics of coordination compounds have been extensively investigated not only because their structure, stability, reactivity dependence on the metal center oxidation state and the coordinated ligand; but also for their electronic transitions in a wide range of visible radiation. The knowledge of light absorption, excited state deactivation, sensitization and quenching processes are crucial to their manipulation aiming the development of systems capable of execute useful functions such as photosensors and/or probes, luminescent devices and molecular systems to convert sunlight into other types of energy. In this review, the progresses and challenges of biomolecules photosensors, organic light emitting diodes and CO2 photoreduction catalysts based on ruthenium(II), rhenium(I) or iridium(III) coordination compounds are discussed based on their photochemical and photophysical processes.

Abstract: The purpose of this quasi-experimental research was to assess the performance of nursing students on a knowledge test before and after their participation in a distance learning unit on topical therapy for chronic wounds using a virtual learning environment (VLE Moodle). The study was conducted in three stages: application of a pretest, implementation of the intervention in the VLE Moodle, and application of a post-test. The participants were 37 students from the last year of a nursing undergraduate course in a public higher education institution in the state of São Paulo. There was a statistically significant increase in the mean number of correct answers obtained on the knowledge test after the intervention in all fields and items assessed in the test. The use of the VLE Moodle may represent a supporting strategy to strengthen and broaden the access of nursing undergraduates to knowledge on relevant topics for nursing care.

Resumo: Estudo quase-experimental que objetivou avaliar o desempenho dos estudantes de enfermagem em teste de conhecimento, antes e após a participação em um módulo de ensino a distância, sobre terapia tópica para feridas crônicas usando o Ambiente Virtual de Aprendizagem (AVA-Moodle). O estudo foi desenvolvido em três etapas: aplicação do pré-teste, implementação da intervenção no AVA-Moodle e aplicação do pós-teste. Participaram 37 estudantes do último ano do Curso de Enfermagem de uma Instituição Pública de Ensino Superior do estado de São Paulo. Houve aumento estatisticamente significativo, no número médio de acertos, obtidos no teste de conhecimento após a intervenção educativa em todos os domínios e itens avaliados. A utilização do AVA-Moodle pode ser uma estratégia de apoio aos estudantes de graduação em enfermagem para potencializar e ampliar o acesso ao conhecimento sobre temas relevantes para a assistência de enfermagem.

Resumen: Estudio cuasi experimental tuvo como objetivo evaluar el desempeño de estudiantes de enfermería en test de conocimiento antes y después de participar en un módulo de enseñanza a distancia sobre terapia tópica para heridas crónicas utilizando Ambiente Virtual de Aprendizaje (AVA-Moodle). Desarrollado en tres etapas: aplicación del pre-test, implementación de la intervención en AVA-Moodle y aplicación del post-test. Participaron 37 estudiantes en el último año del Curso en Enfermería de Institución Pública de Enseñanza Superior del Estado de São Paulo. Hubo aumento estadísticamente significativo del promedio de aciertos obtenidos en el test posterior a la intervención en todos los dominios e ítems evaluados. La utilización del AVA-Moodle constituye una estrategia de apoyo para estudiantes de grado en enfermería en la potenciación y ampliación del acceso al conocimiento sobre temas relevantes para la atención de enfermería.

ABSTRACT In this work, the corrosion behavior of carbon steel AISI 1020 was evaluated in artificial seawater in the presence of mixed sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) culture isolated from the rust of a pipeline. The corrosion evaluation was performed by electrochemical techniques (open circuit potential (Eocp), polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)), while the formation of a biofilm and corrosion products were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The presence of SRB in the medium shifted the open circuit potential to more positive values and increased the corrosion rate of the steel. Electrochemical and morphological techniques confirmed the presence of a biofilm on the steel surface. EDS spectra data showed the presence of sulfur in the corrosion products. After removing the biofilm, localized corrosion was observed on the surface, confirming that localized corrosion had occurred. The biogenic sulfide may lead to the formation of galvanic cells and contributes to cathodic depolarization.
